During the past year Israel, with backing from the US, the UK and other Western governments, has been allowed to continue its genocide in Gaza, extending into the West Bank. At ICAHD UK, we have worked tirelessly to spread understanding of the root causes of these terrible events – Zionist settler colonialism and the consequent Israeli regime of apartheid – and to work with our Palestinian partners in formulating a vision and plan for the future. Civil society organisations like ICAHD UK are essential to ensuring justice for Palestinians.
Our key achievements over the last year have been:
- Supporting ICAHD’s activism “on the ground” in Palestine, from providing funds to help Palestinians rebuild their homes, to remaining on their land and defending them against settler encroachment, to collaborating with our Palestinian partners in moving ahead a one-state political program.
- Producing ‘Rooted in the West Bank’, a documentary about the struggle of the Jaber family to stay on its lands, shown on Al-Jazeera.
- Running a study-tour for internationals within Palestine during a time of genocide, allowing them to witness the reality, demonstrate their solidarity with Palestinians, and equip them for campaigning.
- Hosting two conferences featuring important Palestinian, Israeli and other expert speakers.
- Facilitating a UK speaking tour for Jeff Halper in which he engaged with students, academics, trade unionists, NGO leaders, MPs, and civil society
- Broadcasting monthly video updates from ICAHD’s Director Jeff Halper, with critical cutting-edge analysis.
- Sending out monthly bulletins and newsletters on campaign and lobbying actions, distributing ICAHD educational materials and offering a wealth of critical analysis and visuals on our website.
- Coordinating actions and taking a leading role in pro-Palestine organisation with others in the UK.
Where are we going in 2025?
- Continuing to campaign against the ongoing genocide in Gaza and the ethnic cleansing of the West Bank.
- Continuing to promote the one-democratic state solution while mounting a campaign against Trump and Netanyahu’s impending plans for “normalization” intended to institutionalize two-state apartheid.
- Updating and expanding upon our educational materials, particularly our reframing of the Zionist project of Judaizing Palestine from a “conflict” involving two “sides” to a unilateral one of settler colonialism.
- Continuing to work with our Palestinian partners on the ground, both those resisting and those engaged in political initiatives.
- Strengthening ICAHD UK’s infrastructure, including the hiring of a social media professional to extend our global reach and creating a new website.
