For almost three decades ICAHD has been building homes, a community center and agricultural structures, not as humanitarian projects but as joint acts of resistance to displacement with the Palestinian communities and families who welcome us in. Rebuilding homes demolished by the Israeli authorities and strengthening the Palestinians’ presence on the land enables them to persevere in extremely violent and repressive conditions – to remain sumud, steadfast in their homes, on their land, in their country.

Today, as Israel moves to annex up to 82% of the West Bank, our Sumud Project is more urgent than ever.  Since October 7th 2023, demolitions of homes, other community and farming structures, as well as wells, irrigation pipes and other vital infrastructure, have spiraled; massive tracts of land have been expropriated as settler gangs drive Palestinians out of their towns, villages and agricultural communities. Our Palestinian partners in the Jordan Valley, the Hebron district and in E-1 have approached ICAHD as a matter of survival. We are therefore redoubling our efforts to provide the material conditions they need to sustain their presence in their homes and lands.

For insight into what is happening in Area C of the West Bank, watch our September 2025 webinar on Ethnic Cleansing in the West Bank which sheds crucial light on the cruel realities of life in the West Bank which is currently being overshadowed by the Gazan genocide but in the chilling words of Israel’s Defence Minister, Israel Katz,  is being “Gaza-fied”.

Hear from our speakers Rashed Khudairy and Khalil Al-Hathaleen as they describe the reality in two of the most threatened and violent parts of the West Bank. The Jordan Valley has been almost completely ethnically cleansed and Umm Al-Khair, a Bedouin village in the South Hebron Hills, surrounded by the vicious settlement of Carmel, has been reduced to a starving enclave.

In 2021, ICAHD rebuilt a home in Umm al-Khair following a demolition by Israeli authorities and with internationals, we constructed a mudbrick eco community centre in Bardala which has served 13 communities since 2018. ICAHD cannot abandon our partners in these communities thus they are our focus as we launch our Sumud Project.
