Mark your calendars and begin planning for the #StopSendingArms ‘Global Day of Action’ on Thursday, 2 May 2024. This day of action is for all those calling for a #CeasefireNOW to come together and show the strength and power of our collective global voice to call on political leaders to urgently end arms transfers to Israel amidst the ongoing catastrophic humanitarian crisis in Gaza. Israel’s bombardment and siege are depriving the civilian population of the basics to survive and rendering Gaza uninhabitable.

As the crisis escalates, fueled by the proliferation of arms, it is imperative to advocate for an end to governments being complicit in these violations of international law by transferring arms to Israel. This day of action seeks to mobilize global solidarity and demand accountability from governments involved in the arms trade.

Only a sustained ceasefire can stop the further loss of civilian life and ensure sufficient aid reaches those in need. We need a global outcry - this day of action is for all those calling for a ceasefire to come together and show the strength and power of our collective global voice.

Stunts for the Global Day of Action will be taking place in key global capitals including Washington D.C., Paris, Copenhagen, Brussels, London, Madrid, Toronto, Algiers, Taipei, Sydney, Melbourne, Canberra, Seoul, Rome, Accra, Berlin and more!

More suggestions about how to get involved in the #StopSending Arms ‘Global Day of Action’ on 2 May follow:

WHAT: A ‘Global Day of Action’ to come together and make visible the international call on political leaders to urgently end arms transfers to Israel amidst the ongoing catastrophic humanitarian crisis in Gaza. Israel’s bombardment and siege are depriving the civilian population of the basics to survive and rendering Gaza uninhabitable.

WHY: Israel’s military activity has destroyed a substantial portion of Gaza’s homes, schools, hospitals, water infrastructure, shelters, and refugee camps; the indiscriminate nature of these bombings and a pattern of apparently disproportionate civilian harm they routinely cause, is unlawful and may constitute war crimes.

WHEN: Thursday, 2 May 2024

HOW:

  • Project it, wear it, print and show it somewhere iconic, plaster it on a billboard truck - be bold and creative
  • Make the #StopSendingArms call visible to as many people in your country or community as possible - as well as the political leaders that matter most
  • Make it visually striking to get bold photos and video clips
  • Invite the press. Invite people with a high profile or social media following
  • Inspiration:
  • Project graphics on an iconic building.
  • Film and share your demand to #StopSendingArms
  • Print off a StopSendingArms poster and take a picture of yourself holding it up somewhere that matters.
  • ORGANIZE a Media Stunt with 3D Missiles:
Option 1: 3D missiles printed to scale. Each missile will be labeled with the country of origin, highlighting the nations responsible for manufacturing and supplying arms to Israel. Protestors join to hold the missiles and a banner that states “No Weapons for War Crimes”
Option 2: the above option plus a ‘die-in’ with people representing the different people being killed- children, aid workers, teachers, doctors, etc. Each person will have a name of someone in Gaza who was killed that they represent to humanize the narrative. Each time the audio sounds a bomb, one of the people will fall on the ground until all people fall
Option 3: volunteers sign up to represent the children killed by these missiles in Gaza. Hundreds of small missiles are printed and labeled with names of children. Each volunteer will hold a missile with a name on it. Alternatively, every missile can represent 100 children killed (dependent on volunteers).
