ICAHD was represented at the UN international conference of civil society in support of Israeli-Palestinian peace, held at the European Parliament in Brussels on 30 and 31st August 2007.

Both Angela Godfrey-Goldstein, ICAHDis Advocacy Officer in Jerusalem, and Dr Jennifer Lowenstein, ICAHD USA board member and Associate Director of the ME Studies Programme at University of Wisconsin, are part of the UN Steering Committee on the Exercise of the Inalienable Rights of the Palestinian People, and thus both presented papers at the conference. ICAHD UK member, Clare Short, MP, also presented a paper during the opening plenary which was based on her debate in the Houses of Parliament on 26th June, shortly after returning from her visit to the Occupied Territories.

Also present was ICAHD UKis director, Linda Ramsden, who reports, iMore than 450 members of civil society, including many Jewish people, arrived from around the world to share information and to strategize on the way ahead. We came heavy-hearted because of the acute and deepening crisis in Palestine; thus there was overwhelming agreement that an apartheid regime is being implemented over the Palestinian people and that the call for Boycotts, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) must be developed in our respective countries. It was announced that the global campaign slogan for 2008 will be i60 Years of Dispossession is Enough. I am glad that ICAHD UK can play our part in building this movement to help change history.
