The Israeli Ministry of Education has announced that the Bereaved Parents Circle Families Forum will be forbidden from speaking to students in Israeli high schools

The reasons given were that “the forum disparages the army, calls it an army of occupation." The Ministry added, “Any comparison between the bereavement of the families of the IDF with the bereavement of the victims of the defensive actions of the IDF in its defense of the State of Israel is unacceptable."

BEREAVED FAMILIES FORUM

the Bereaved Parents Circle Families Forum will be forbidden from speaking to students in Israeli high schools

Copied and pasted from Facebook here

This means that advocates for peace and reconciliation such as Rami Elhanan and Bassam Aramin, who recently spoke to over 2600 people in Australia, and Christian parents, George and Najwa Sa'adeh, won’t be able to share their stories of pain, grief and hope before any student in the Israeli school system. While it’s possible this unreasonable decision may be overturned by the Supreme Court, the fact that this government is so fearful of what may happen to students who hear just one hour of Palestinian grief amidst the thousands of hours of pro-IDF education is heartbreaking. Responding to the decision, the forum posted on twitter: “In a dictatorship, the Minister of Education determines what must not be known. Education Minister Yoav Kish's decision to keep the Bereaved Families Forum away from activities in the schools is another move in the judicial coup - the suppression of democracy and zero acceptance of other voices.” "The forum added that “the people of the messianic Right who called for this decision not only harmed the memory of the bereaved and the right to mourn, but also seek to perpetuate the blood feud between the nations. They want us not to know, they want us to keep hurting, they want to eliminate any chance of reconciliation and peace between the nations. They mostly want to eliminate the hope for a different, normal reality.” “Peace is made with enemies. For peace we must acknowledge the pain of the other side. We call on everyone who has hope in their heart to oppose the decision. To every audience and to every public that wants to strengthen democracy, we call right now to contact us and hold dialogue meetings.” “Yoav Kish wants to make us disappear from the public sphere, but we will not disappear. We will not lose hope.” TIME TO BOYCOTT HOME DEPOT
