Our Mission

First established in 1997 by representatives of Jerusalem peace organizations, Israeli Committee Against House Demolitions (ICAHD) focuses on Israel's policies of demolishing Palestinian homes as a vehicle for exposing the ethnic cleansing, apartheid agenda of Israel. ICAHD resists Israeli policies and practices on the ground, provides critical analyses, and mobilizes partners for a just resolution in Palestine-Israel and abroad. ICAHD-USA amplifies this critical Israeli voice in the United States.

ICAHD UPDATE

ICAHD UK’s August webinar featured two Palestinian women who are on the front line as they face being displaced from their homes in East Jerusalem which is part of Israel’s ongoing ethnic cleansing of the indigenous population. In the community of Sheikh Jarrah, 28 Palestinian households are threatened with eviction to be replaced by settlers while nearly one hundred homes in the Palestinian community of Al-Bustan within Silwan are slated for demolition that will displace 1550 Palestinians. These Palestinians are fighting the entire Israeli system — the supreme court, the municipality, the police, the settlers, and the government — all of whom have one goal: the Judaization of Jerusalem.

Join the Good Shepherd Collective

Based in the south Hebron hills, we are a collective of individuals and organizations seeking to change the structures that perpetuate violence in the Holy Land. We understand violence to be rooted in the structures and laws that guide civil formation and order. As such, we reject the binary discourse of “Israelis vs. Palestinians” and instead focus on structural oppression that leads to violence. GSC organizes to change the policies and laws that underpin these structures through grassroots campaigns. The Campaign to Defund Racism (https://defundracism.org/) is a Palestinian-led movement to end the use of ‘charitable’ funds raised in the United States to carry out the mission of Israeli settler organizations. It aims to uncover wrongful acts being funded by these organizations through the use of their charitable status, stop the exploitation of US charitable laws that fund settler extremism and violence, and as a result, the subjugation and displacement of Palestinian communities. Jeff argues that the only way out of a colonial situation is decolonization: the dismantling of Zionist structures of domination and control and their replacement by a single democratic state, in which Palestinians and Israeli Jews forge a new civil society and a shared political community. To show how this can be done, Halper uses the 10-point program of the One Democratic State Campaign as a guide for thinking through the process of decolonization to its post-colonial conclusion.
