We were thrilled to learn that the study tour to Palestine/Israel done in conjunction with ICAHD in November 2019 prompted actor/writer Norma Cohen to write her new play Key to Return which is based on the people she met and what she witnessed during her tour experience. It can be heard at the P21 Gallery in London on Thursday, 3^rd February at 6.30pm.

Directed by Steve Tiller (), there will be a 75-minute staged reading followed by a Q&A.

This performance will be dedicated to the memory of Haj Suleiman al Hathaleen, a Bedouin activist elder who died of injuries followed being run over by an Israeli tow truck in January. Norma met Haj Suleiman on the tour group’s visit to the village of Umm al-Khair. His brave stance over incursions from nearby settlers & the military inspired a major, culminating scene in her play.

For more information about Haj Suleiman, the play and to reserve your ticket, see here . LAST CALL for anyone who would like to participate in the 11-day study tour to Palestine/Israel scheduled for 16-26 May must submit their name by Tuesday, 15 February. Information about the tour can be found here .

ICAHD UK Interview with Haim Bresheeth

Founder of Jewish Network for Palestine In this interview with author, filmmaker and scholar, Prof Haim Bresheeth describes his early life in Jaffa as the son of Holocaust survivors. Despite his pacifist convictions he was pressurized to serve in the Israeli army. After this time in the army, Haim, knowing that he needed to get away from the claustrophobia of Israel, came to study in Britain. Encounters which followed led him on a journey away from Zionism and the realization that he had lived in a country that practiced apartheid. Haim now believes that the only way forward is for there to be decolonisation and the establishment of one democratic state. In this interview Haim warns of the dangers of a either a confederation or federation, and points to recent developments that makes him optimistic. New Resources including animated maps

New maps have been prepared that summarize Israel’s demolitions of homes and structures vital for living that happened during 2021. The map illustrated here shows at a glance just how invasive the demolitions were throughout much of the West Bank and within East Jerusalem. Two animated maps have also been prepared. One shows the demolitions month by month in the West Bank and Naqab (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8FlniJudG08) . The other illustrates the demolitions in East Jerusalem between 2004 – 2021 (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1eIPxjUY-t4) . These maps are suitable for use on mobile phones and social media. Please use these maps for your awareness raising and lobbying political representatives. There can be no argument for these facts on the ground which violate the 4^th Geneva Convention.
