More than 125,000 people filled streets in London on Saturday, 7th September, for the 18th national march for Palestine.  However, in the lead up to it, plans for the march had been difficult because the Metropolitan Police had attempted to frustrate the march coordinators through intimidation and arguments with unjustified and unexplained conditions it wanted to impose. With less than 24 hours to go, the Met dropped its conditions and allowed the march to begin at the original start time and with the route from Regents Street and to the Israeli Embassy.

Once again this was a peaceful, good-spirited march as people of all ages and from a wide range of ethnic backgrounds took to the streets. Calls went out for a full arms embargo, a permanent ceasefire, and the end of Israel’s apartheid and genocidal policies over the Palestinian people.

ICAHD UK supporters continue to be part of the Jewish bloc. There is always much interest in ICAHD’s work and many conversations with other demonstrators happen along the way. The next national march will be in London on Saturday, 5th October. Do join us then.
