Following the great success of Laughing For Palestine With Frankie Boyle at Edinburgh Fringe Festival in the summer, ICAHD UK announces a new stand-up comedy fundraising event, this time in London, om Monday 8 October, at 8pm, with headliner Alexei Sayle and a brilliant line up of comics. All proceed go towards future activities of ICAHD UK: opposing house demolitions of Palestinians, building Palestinian public facilities in solidarity and rebuilding demolished homes` informing and advocating on dispossession and displacement in Israel and Palestine.

Angel Comedy at the Bill Murray Pub in Islington are kindly having us.

Alexei Sayle

Alexei Sayle is a veteran supporter of freedom for the Palestinian people and one of the funniest men alive. A forefather of modern comedy, Alexei was The Comedy Store’s first ever compere but it was his role in seminal TV shows The Young Ones and The Comic Strip that brought national fame. When Hollywood beckoned in the shape of Indiana Jones he became a true global performer. From novels to newspaper columns, Shakespeare’s Tempest to a Carry On film there are few fields of vulture he has not impacted on. We are thrilled and grateful that he has agreed to perform for ICAHD UK.

 

Dane Baptiste

Dane is one of the fastest rising comedy stars of the last few years. If you’ve not seen his BBC 3 sit-com Sunny D, you’ve seen him at hosting Live at the Apollo (BBC Two), you’d have caught him om Tonight at the London Palladium (ITV1), Mock the Week (BBC Two), Live from the BBC (BBC Two), 8 out of 10 Cats Does Countdown (Channel 4) or and his own BBC sitcom, Sunny D. Original, provocative and exceptionally prolific – Baptiste is already being hailed as one of the most exciting acts to break in years. The London born stand up made comedy history in 2014 as the first black British act to be nominated for a Comedy Award at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.

 

Dana Alexander

Dana draws her material from raw life experience with an original and hilarious outlook. She began her comedy career at the age of 18 years old in Canada. Before long she began touring nationally with Yuk Yuk’s Comedy Clubs, completed 5 television galas and several radio spots for major stations.
In 2011 Dana moved to the U.K. where she premiered her solo hour at The Edinburgh Festival for which she received rave reviews and nominations including “Best Comic” and “Best International Act” from Chortle and Black Comedy Awards. It was not long before she then featured on British television on programmes such as “Russell Howard’s Good News”, “Edinburgh Comedy Fest” and “The Culture Show”. ​Her solo comedy special also aired in Canada’s popular Stand-up show “Comedy Now” and she has been named in the Top 10 Comedians 3 years running by NOW Magazine in Canada.

 

Esther Manito

Esther is a So You Think You’re Funny Finalist 2017. Bath Comedian of the year FINALIST 2017.  Winner of  the comedy store’s KING GONG 2018. Listed as a ‘One to Watch’ by – funny women 2016 and Funny women semi finalist 2017. Amused Moose SEMI FINALIST 2017.  Leicester Square Comedian of the year SEMI FINALIST 2016/2017.  Esther was a BBC new comedy award nominee in 2016/2017. Sameena Zehra

Sameena Zehra is an award winning comedian, storyteller, writer, director and blues singer/songwriter. She has performed her solo shows all over the world, including Edinburgh Fringe, Melbourne International Comedy Festival, Brighton Fringe, Adelaide Fringe and New Zealand Fringe, where she was nominated for ‘Best In Fringe’ 2016, and won ‘Outstanding Performer’ in 2017.

MC: Daphna Baram

Daphna is an Israel born, London based stand-up comedian and the director of ICAHD UK. She has been an activist on Palestinian rights and against the occupation since her early youth and worked as a human rights lawyer, a journalist and an editor in Jerusalem. She embarked on her comedy career in 2010 due to a chain of events involving two weddings, Chris Morris and a heart attack.
